Pinot Gris ‘Macération’ Eugène Meyer 75cl
A beautiful rose petal hue, that’s pink in colour with orange flecks and an expressive grapefruity nose and hint of spice. While notes of peach and strawberry linger in the background to make this wine Orange/Rosé-esque, this is by no means a wine on the sweet side; Very dry but full bodied and quite rich on the palate with a velvety texture.
The soft tannins on the finish make this a wine that is perfectly paired with light dishes with a bit of oiliness – tartes flambées, grilled poultry and East-Asian dishes. An interesting wine for anyone that’s open to trying something different and enjoys a drier textured wine that goes a bit off-piste.
Perhaps one of the oldest family wine histories in one location, the Meyer family have had vineyards in Alsace for over 400 years. François and Sylvie Meyer are the current custodians of this exceptional biodynamic estate in Bergholz. Their vineyards are on south-east facing slopes which allow the long slow ripening of grapes to reach their full potential producing clean and elegant wines.
